About

Agni Ayushatya (Sagittarius, 1988).

I dream in golden yellow is an ongoing self-portraits project about my body’s journey on healing from trauma and depression. The images portray the body’s mental state complexity, its reactions to neglected memories and self-acceptance towards the unpredictable outgrowths.

I mainly work with experimental analog photography (mostly film soup and shooting expired film) and practice traditional photographic images interventions, such as collage and polaroid emulsion lift, on both analog and digital photography.

Statement

“It is obviously difficult working with forgotten memories that were buried deep down inside. But through my works, I want to embolden myself to face the past and grow. Ultimately, my works not merely aim to depict my personal experience dealing with trauma, but also to give a glimpse on how trauma can significantly affect and change the work of brain and body in daily life.”  ― Agni Ayushatya

“Healing is more about accepting the pain and finding a way to peacefully co-exist with it. In the sea of life, pain is a tide that will ebb and weave, continually. We need to learn how to let it wash over us, without drowning in it. Our life doesn’t have to end where the pain begins, but rather, it is where we start to mend.” ― Jaeda DeWalt
